Week 2

Hello!
It's Monday May 17th and I came into school this morning and noticed that the temperature was quite high. It was at 104F, when it should be running at 99.5F. I informed the kids that this temperature reading was too high, and that it might be a factor in our success story. I did turn the temperature down immediately and it has been running at at a steady 99.5F all day long. I'm completely puzzled for the increase over the weekend.

  2. The kids and I had so much fun today! We saw growing chicks when we candeled the eggs with Mrs. Birkholz! As of today, it looks as if we have about 5-7 eggs developing. The kids were so excited to witness this. Of course, I wish all 21 were developing, but I believe the temperature problem on Monday has played a factor in our success story. I hope to upload a video clip soon of the candeling!

  4. Deegan tells us that the chicks are growing their egg tooth on Day 10. Kevin tells the class that baby chicks need an egg tooth so that they can peck their way out of the shell.

  5. A note from Patrick:
On June 2nd the eggs are going to be hatching. It might work or it might not work..that is how a science experiment works.

We learned from candling that 16 eggs may hatch and 5 may not.
